Water Treatment Riverside Walk

The riverside walk here runs alongside the old water treatment works near Bridgnorth, and it's one of those local paths that hardly anyone talks about but absolutely should. The stretch itself is properly scenic - you get the Severn flowing past on one side, industrial heritage on the other, and a surprising amount of wildlife if you keep your eyes open. Herons, kingfishers if you're lucky, and plenty of native trees lining the bank.

It's not a dramatic walk by any means. You won't get Instagram moments or views that'll take your breath away. But for families based at Stanmore Hall or Bank Farm, both just a few miles north, it's a cracking way to burn an hour or so without needing to drive anywhere. Children tend to find the water fascinating enough, and there's usually enough space to let them run about safely away from the main path. The industrial side of things - old pipework, brick structures - gives it a bit of character too. You're essentially walking through working infrastructure, which sounds dull until you realise how rarely you get to see how these places actually function.

Allow an hour for a decent stretch either direction. Closest access is from Bridgnorth town itself, so you could combine it with a look around the town's proper attractions if the weather turns. Go early morning or late afternoon for the best chance of spotting birds. The path is free and mostly flat, though it can get muddy after rain.
