West Creech Hill

Standing at 125 metres, this unassuming hill delivers some of the finest views across the Isle of Purbeck and Poole Harbour you'll find anywhere in Dorset. The walk up takes about 20 minutes from the nearest parking spot, following well-worn paths through heathland that's alive with gorse and heather in spring and summer.

From the summit, you can see right across to the Needles on the Isle of Wight on a clear day, with Corfe Castle visible to the south and the sprawling waters of Poole Harbour stretching out below. It's the sort of view that makes you want to linger with a thermos of tea.

Walkers and photographers get the most from this spot - families with older children will manage the climb easily enough, though toddlers might find it a bit much. The hill sits on open access land, so there's no entrance fee and you can visit any time of year. Early morning or late afternoon light makes for the best photos.
