A proper working city that doesn't pander to tourists, Carlisle has that authentic northern grit that's increasingly rare. Getting here couldn't be easier - Carlisle sits on the main West Coast railway line, with regular services from London, Glasgow and Manchester. The M74 and A7 provide straightforward road access from Scotland, while the M6 brings you up from the south.
