Dog Hill and Langton Hill are the most accessible peaks for a decent walk, while the ancient Greenwich Meridian line actually passes right through the area - marked at a historic site that's surprisingly understated for something so significant.

St Michael's Church dominates the town centre with its impressive medieval tower, but venture out to the surrounding villages and you'll discover gems like St Peter's Church and the ruins of Burwell Priory. The priory's a proper relic from the 12th century, though it takes a bit of local knowledge to find the best preserved sections.

Walking trails thread through Willow Holt and Hocker Holt, two patches of ancient woodland that feel wonderfully remote despite being just minutes from the high street. The hills - Warden Hill, Anderson Hill, and Harrington Hill among others - form a natural amphitheatre around the town, making this corner of Lincolnshire feel more dramatic than you'd expect.

Lincoln's about 30 minutes by car, but honestly, you might find yourself lingering longer than planned rummaging through the antique centres. Several holiday parks dot the surrounding countryside, from traditional caravan sites to newer glamping spots, making this an ideal base for exploring the quieter side of the Lincolnshire Wolds without the coastal crowds.
