Tenbury Wells

That curious Georgian pump room standing in the town centre tells you everything about Tenbury Wells' original claim to fame - mineral water that supposedly cured everything from gout to general malaise. The Victorian spa days are long gone, but this market town on the Worcestershire-Herefordshire border retains a proper old-world feel that many find rather refreshing.

Tenbury sits in the Teme Valley, surrounded by hop fields and apple orchards that burst into blossom each spring. The River Teme winds lazily through town, creating pleasant riverside walks that lead out into surprisingly wild countryside. Getting here means driving really - the nearest station is Ludlow, about twelve miles northeast, though Worcester is the main transport hub at roughly thirty miles east. The A456 brings you in from the M54 corridor, while the A4112 connects to Herefordshire and the Welsh borders.
