Captain Kids is a modest indoor play centre in Skegness, the kind of place you'd stumble into on a drizzly afternoon when the seafront's lost its appeal. It's aimed squarely at younger children - think slides, climbing frames, ball pits, and soft play structures rather than anything that'll get a ten-year-old excited for long. The whole setup is frankly fairly standard for a seaside town attraction, with that slightly worn-around-the-edges feel that comes with heavy use from holiday crowds.

For families staying at Butlins Skegness or Haven just down the road, it's convenient enough as a wet-weather backup when the beach isn't an option. You're looking at maybe an hour or ninety minutes max before the kids have exhausted what's on offer - it's not the sort of place that justifies a long journey. Toddlers and younger primary school kids will get the most mileage out of it; older siblings will likely find it underwhelming.

I'd check what admission costs before you turn up, as prices vary wildly for these places. If you're already staying nearby, it's worth knowing about as a fallback option, but don't build a day around it. Skegness has enough going on - the beach itself, the pier, the donkeys - that you probably won't need this unless the weather turns properly foul.
