Simpleside Hill

The walk up Simpleside Hill rewards you with proper views across Perthshire - nothing dramatic, but the kind of landscape that makes you understand why people settle here. It's a straightforward climb from Perth, gentle enough that you won't arrive at the top completely knackered, steep enough to feel like you've earned the vista.

What you're actually doing is following a well-trodden path through moorland and scrub. The summit itself isn't a dramatic rocky outcrop - just open ground where the horizon suddenly opens up. On a clear day the perspectives are genuinely lovely. On a murky afternoon it's less inspiring, so timing matters.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's the sort of outing where you go for the exercise and the views rather than any specific attraction at the top. Families with older kids would manage it fine; younger ones might find the final push tedious. Allow a couple of hours there and back from Perth depending on your pace.
